Oscar Gallant, 87, of Dieppe, passed away on Friday, September 22nd, 2017 at the Moncton Hospital.

Born in Mont-Carmel, PEI, he was the son of the late Magloire and the late Eugenie (née: Haché) Gallant.

Mr. Gallant had retired from Metropolitan Life after a 32 year career. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and working as a handyman; he will be remembered as always having a smile for everyone and for being a fan of Crosby and the Pittsburg Penguins.  For several years, he volunteered his time as a canvasser for the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Cancer Society and the Diabetes Association. He also volunteered with the St. John Ambulance for 30 plus years. He was a member of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette parish, where he actively participated in the collection.

He is survived by three sons: Marc (Donna) of Moncton, Mike (Denise) and Jamie (Nadine), both of Dieppe; three brothers: Fred "Joe" (late Bertha) of Stratford, PEI, Clarence (late Marie) of Summerside, PEI and Cedric (Aldine) of Mont-Carmel, PEI;  two granddaughters: Melissa (Martin) McDonald and Jenica (Daniel) Cormier; one great granddaughter, Maelle; two great grandchildren in the near future, several nieces and nephews, as well as his constant canine companion "Jazz".

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia in July 2017; one sister, Eileen Blacquiere and also by one brother, Faustin.

Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Sainte-Thérèse Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe on Wednesday, September 27th, 2017 at 1 pm.

Interment in Notre-Dame du Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
