PIERRE "RX" ARSENAULT
Pierre "RX" Arsenault, 56, of Dieppe, passed away on Monday, December 18th, 2017 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, Moncton.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of Adrien Arsenault and Laurida Brun.
Pierre passed away peacefully following a long bout with cancer. A few days from Christmas, he was among family with much love, support, laughter and tears. He will be dearly missed among many loved ones.
Known as a ‘bon vivant’, Pierre demonstrated exemplary courage and an unmatched will to live. Despite his condition and its challenges, he never complained. During his long illness, Pierre found comfort among his dear family, his friends who stayed by his side for many years, without forgetting his two cats, Willie and Charlotte.
Pierre was fiercely loyal to his wife and kids who he loved dearly, but also to his extended family and his long-lasting friendships.
Fascinated by aviation from a young age, he became a pilot at age 17. Gifted with a great intellect and know-how, he faced all challenges head-on. Determined, he completed all his projects.
Engineer by training, Pierre held several positions in industrial engineering before becoming an air traffic controller, a position for over 25 years.
In Riverview’s command center, he was a union representative for many years, in addition to being Treasurer for the Canadian Air Traffic Control Association from 2002 to 2004.
His devotion to his peers began in university at the Université de Moncton. He was vice-president and then president of the Association des étudiantes et étudiants en génie de l’Université de Moncton (AEEGUM) in addition to his work with several student bodies. Later, this engagement would extend to his profession and his community.
Very knowledgeable, exact and skilled, he had many hobbies including woodwork and golf, in addition to being fascinated with current events, accounting and financial markets.
Besides his parents: Adrien (Agnes) Arsenault and Laurida Brun (Marcel Lang), he is survived by his wife, Monique Chiasson; his children: Catherine Arsenault and Simon Arsenault, both at home; his sisters: Micheline (late Danny) Gagnon of Moncton, Chantal Arsenault (Louis Thériault) and Ghislaine Arsenault (Bob Myers), both of Dieppe; his parents-in-law: Albertine Mallet of Montreal and Job Chiasson (Claudette Mallet) of Caraquet; his brothers-in-law: Paul Chiasson (Danielle Mallet) of Dieppe, Martin Chiasson of Montreal and Maxime Chiasson of Caraquet; several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm ONLY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Saint-Anselme Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe on Thursday, December 21st, 2017 at 11 am.
Interment in Saint-Anselme Parish Cemetery, Dieppe.
