PAUL CHIASSON

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Paul Chiasson, 74, of Moncton. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, April 7th, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, Moncton.

Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Ernest and the late Maria (Bourque) Chiasson.

Paul had worked as school principal at École Essex for 30 years, and as a teacher at École Secondaire Vanier. For many years, he had volunteered proudly in the Club des Aigles Bleus, the booster club for the Université de Moncton men’s hockey team. He loved hockey, and was a true fan of the Montreal Canadiens. Since his retirement, he enjoyed life to the fullest with his wife Marie. He loved spending time with friends and family, summers at the cottage in Cocagne, and his numerous trips to one of his favorite places Daytona Beach Shores. He loved music and was an accomplished guitarist. He was also an accomplished pool player, and a WWII history buff. In his youth, he had proudly served as corporal in the Canadian Militia.

He is survived by his wife, Marie (Belliveau); two sons: Yves (Renelle Desjardins) and Daniel (Caroline Clément); one grandson, Jakob; one step-granddaughter, Bérénice; four sisters: Francine (Gérald Gautreau), Gloria (Allan Hudson), Cécile (Paul Gallant) and Marcia (Eugene Goguen); several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He was predeceased by his parents and two younger sisters: Marcia and Denise.

Funeral will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home Chapel, on Wednesday, April 11th, 2018 at 11 am.

Donations to the CHU Dumont Foundation (Oncology, Palliative Care, or Extra-Mural Services) would be appreciated by the family.
