Néri Gallant, 89, of Dieppe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 23rd, 2018, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, Moncton.
Born in Shediac River, NB, he was the son of the late Jules and the late Sarah (née: Poirier) Gallant.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Gallant had worked for the Department of Transportation and CN. Never one to stay still, he was an avid volunteer and member of the Club d’Age d’Or de Dieppe. His dedication to music led to 44 years as a disc jockey. He was a member of Sainte-Thérèse parish.
He is survived by his wife, Freda; his children: Gérard (Alfreda), Flora (David) Ryder, Thérèse (late Roger) Beaulieu, Rhéa Gallant, Yvonne (Dean) Larlee, Évéline (Michel) Fournier, Claudette Gallant, Marie (late Lucien) Bernier and Ronald (Linda); his step-children: Louise (Francis) LeBlanc, Mai (Fred) Cormier, Simone (Don) Bourgoin, Jean (Nancy) Doiron, Joanne Doiron and Ronald (Anne) Doiron; one sister, Léona (late Leonard) Noël; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents; he was predeceased by his first wife, Léozée (née: Caissie); his granddaughter, Monique Gallant; his sisters: Exelia, Auréa, Corinne and Lorraine and also by his brother, Arthur.
Visitation will be held from Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe (857-1901) on Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm.
A Celebration of the Word will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home Chapel, on Friday, June 29th, 2018 at 11 am.
Interment in La Visitation Parish Cemetery, Grande-Digue.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the CHU-Dumont "Arbre de l’Espoir" or to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundations would be appreciated by the family.
