Robert Auffrey, 77, of Moncton, passed away on Friday, November 22nd, 2019 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, Moncton.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Philippe and the late Celina "Lina" (née: Bourque) Auffrey.
Mr. Auffrey retired from the Moncton Fire Department with 30 years of service as an Assistant Deputy Chief. Robert was the founder of the Moncton Slowpokes hockey team, a member of the Moncton and Dieppe Red Sox from (1956 to 1960), in which they were inducted in the Dieppe Hall of Fame in 2009, also inducted in the Moncton Wall of Fame in 2012 as a member of the Moncton Schooners baseball team from 1966. He enjoyed playing golf and cards, fishing, traveling, coaching hockey, cooking, but most of all, spending time with his family. A member of the Knights of Columbus (council #1310) and Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix parish.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Annette (née: Richard); two daughters: Monique (Henri-Paul) Brossard of Dieppe and Charline Auffrey of Moncton; one son, Richard (Shannon) of Riverview; two grandsons: Vincent and Mathew; three brothers: Edgar (Cindy) of Moncton, Paul (Jeannine) of Dieppe and Arthur (Yvonne) of Moncton, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother, Roger.
Visitation will be held from Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, (857-1901) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm only.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Roman Catholic Church, (corner of Vail St. and Murphy Ave.) Moncton, on Thursday, November 28th, 2019 at 11 am.
Interment in Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe.
