Surrounded by her children and grandchildren, Marie Bernard passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6th, 2020 at the Dr. Georges-L-Dumont University Hospital Center, Moncton.
She was the beloved wife (61 years) of the late Vincent Bernard (2017).
Born October 27th, 1932 in Bouctouche, NB, she was the youngest daughter of the late Alyre and the late Anna (Bourque) Maillet.
Marie was predeceased by her five siblings: Ola, Sara, Robéa, Léona and Roger. Marie will be dearly missed by her children: Martine, Marc (Anna), Claudette (Pierre), and Luc (Monica), as well as her grandchildren: John (Lisa Marie), Olivia (Peter), Adrienne (Denis), Stephanie (Dave), Christopher (Rachel), Julie (Marc-André), Christine, Ève, Olivier and great-grandchildren: John and Amélia.
The childhood sweethearts married in Montreal, but returned to New Brunswick to raise their family in a home they enjoyed together in Fredericton for nearly 60 years. The family cottage in Bouctouche was a source of great joy where she hosted family meals and enjoyed outdoor pleasures such as gardening and of course, clam digging.
After retiring from the NB Liquor Corporation, Marie took-up painting and discovered a natural talent. Many of her works grace the homes of her children.
Visitation will be held from Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe (857-1901) on Monday, February 10th, 2020 from 2:30 pm until time of service.
Memorial service will be held in the chapel at 4:30 pm, a reception will follow.
In memory of Marie, donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
