REBECCA LEBLANC (LÉGER)

1922-2020

REBECCA LEBLANC (LÉGER)

Rebecca LeBlanc (née Léger) passed away peacefully at Villa du Repos on September 2, 2020, at the age of 98. She was the beloved wife of the late Rodolphe R. LeBlanc who died June 6, 2007.

Born in Moncton, August 12, 1922, Rebecca was the daughter of the late Thomas Léger (1898-1967) and the late Elmina Richard (1900-1987).

She is survived by seven of her eight children: Conrad (Joanne LeBlanc) of Saint-Grégoire, Bernard (Bernice LeBlanc) of Memramcook, Guy (Marge Boudreau) of Shediac Bridge, Marc (Marisa Cormier) of Shediac, Monique (Jean- Guy Poirier) of Dieppe, Nicole (Jean-Pierre Rioux) of Dieppe and Luc (Francine Cassidy) of Shediac Bridge; her younger son, Frédéric (Claire Dulong) died on November 21, 2017.

She also leaves 19 grandchildren: Marisa, Marie-José, Véronique, Germain, Ghyslaine, Nicolas, Mélanie, Isabelle, Marc-André, Geneviève, Rémi, Nathalie, Martin, Mathieu, Stéphane, Julie, André, Jérémie, Dani and 22 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her two sisters, Corinne (Raymond White) of Stittsville, Ontario and Pauline (late Ted Jensen) of Chilliwack, British Columbia as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Normand, and her two sisters: Isola and Lucille.

In addition to raising her eight children, she was Akela of the Scout-Cubs movement in the parish of St-Anselme for several years to eventually become District Scout Commissioner. She enjoyed taking her daily walks and swimming laps in the pool (a sport she did regularly until she was 90). She also enjoyed exchanging ideas relating to philosophy and spirituality. In fact, since the 1960's, she had made great strides in adapting her values to changing times, in large part thanks to various sessions at the Solitude located in Pré-d´en-Haut (Memramcook).

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the administration and staff of Villa du Repos for their compassion and exceptional kindness given to our mother over the past years. A very special thank you to Nurse Marie who established a loving relationship with our mother. In addition, we appreciate her communication with the family especially during this pandemic period.

Respecting Rebecca’s wishes, there will be no visits at the funeral home.  Due to the pandemic situation, the family will celebrate Rebecca's life at a later date.

In memory of Rebecca, a donation to the food bank of your choice, the Tree of Hope or the Villa du Repos would be greatly appreciated by the family.
